オレンジと紫で、人と AI の輪郭をなぞる / Tracing the outline of humans and AI with orange and purple — ZINE

最近、人と AI の協働について考えるとき、
ずっと頭の中に残り続ける色があります。

それが、オレンジと紫です。

プロダクトのカラーパレットを決めるために
「おしゃれな色の組み合わせ」を探していた、というよりも、
自分の暮らしや仕事の肌ざわりをたどっていくうちに
自然とこの二色に収束していった、という感覚に近いです。

オレンジ：人の体温と、瀬戸内の太陽

高松に来てから、朝の光の記憶が増えました。

子どもを連れて家の近くを歩いているとき、
ふと海のほうから、淡いオレンジが差し込んできます。
ビルの隙間からにじむ東京の光とは違って、
輪郭がはっきりしているわけでもないのに、
妙に身体のほうが先に「朝だ」と理解してしまうような光です。

Fragment Practice のブランドロゴに
瀬戸内の日の出をモチーフにしたのは、
単に出身地や拠点を示したかったからではありません。

生活のリズムを照らすものとしての太陽
家族の時間を区切る、ゆっくりした明るさ
「仕事をする自分」と「暮らしている自分」を同じ光で包むこと

そうしたものを、スタジオのベースに置きたかったからです。

オレンジは、人の体温の色でもあります。
打ち合わせでうなずくときの表情、
家族の声のトーン、
友人と話すときの、少しくだけた言葉づかい。

「人と AI のあいだに静かなプロトコルを」と言いながら、
その片側にあるのは、どうしてもこうした
にじむような人肌のほうだよな、という感覚がありました。

紫：論理と深度を持つ、静かな知性

一方で、AI のことを考えるときに浮かぶのは、
くっきりとした白や黒ではありませんでした。

もう少し暗くて、
もう少し奥行きのある、紫に近い色です。

ログをたどると見えてくる、思考の深度
モデルやアルゴリズムの背後にある、静かな構造
ひとつの問いに対して、何通りもの解像度をもたらす知性

そうしたものを、「冷たい機械」とだけ捉えるのは
自分にとってもしっくりきませんでした。

AI は確かに、論理的で、
すぐに結果を返してくれる存在です。
でも実務で長く触れていると、
むしろ目立ってくるのは

「どの前提で」「どの文脈に沿って」「誰と一緒に」機能しているか

という 周辺の構造のほうです。

構造が変われば、同じモデルでも出てくる回答は変わります。
入力を少しだけ変えるだけで、
まったく違う判断ラインが立ち上がることもあります。

その「深さ」や「層の多さ」を表す色として、
自分には紫がしっくりきました。
落ち着いていて、少し距離があり、
でも覗き込むと奥まで続いていそうな色。

オレンジと紫のあいだにあるもの

Fragment Practice のロゴをオレンジにして、
Fragment というプロダクトのアイコンをオレンジと紫のグラデーションにしたのは、
この二つの感覚を同じ場に置いておきたかったからです。

ロゴのオレンジは、人と生活と太陽の側
アイコンに混ざる紫は、AI とプロトコルと構造の側
そのグラデーション部分が、まさに「人と AI の接点」

Fragment という名前には、
日々の断片を大事に扱う、という意味を込めていますが、
色の設計としても、

「人の断片」と「AI の応答」が重なり合うところ

を可視化しておきたい、という意図がありました。

オレンジだけでも、紫だけでも足りない。
そのあいだをどう橋渡しするかを考えるための
ひとつの目印としてのカラートーンです。

Fragment を、橋としてデザインする

Fragment System / Fragment Practice でやろうとしているのは、
「AI にうまいプロンプトを投げる技術」そのものではありません。

会議やメモに、どんな構造を持たせるか
どの情報を AI に渡してよいか、どこで止めるか
誰がどのタイミングで、どのログを見返せるようにするか

といった、プロトコルや役割の設計です。

そのための道具として、YAML や Markdown を使っていますが、
本質的には

「人の断片」と「AI の応答」を同じテーブルに並べる

ための橋をどう設計するか、という話だと思っています。

Fragment のアイコンをオレンジと紫のグラデーションにしたのは、
その橋の上を行き来するものが、
人の体温と AI の知性、両方を含んでいるからです。

人肌の距離で考える、AI との共創

AI を扱うとき、
「効率化」や「自動化」という言葉だけで語ってしまうと、
どうしても温度のない世界に傾いてしまいます。

でも実際に自分がやりたいことは、
そこまでドライなものではありません。

個人が自分のリズムを守りながら働けること
チームが、誰か一人の頑張りに依存せずに回り続けること
研究や現場の知見が、断片のまま埋もれずに次へつながること

こうしたものを支えるために、
AI の持つ静かな知性を借りたい、という感覚に近いです。

だからこそ、Fragment Practice のトーンは
「未来のテクノロジー」というよりも、
人肌の距離で考える AI でありたいと思っています。

オレンジと紫という組み合わせは、
その距離感を、自分自身が忘れないための
小さなアンカーのようなものです。

これから、色と構造を少しずつ揃えていく

今後、Fragment や Fragment Practice のまわりでは、
ZINE やプロトタイプ、実務のノートなど、
さまざまな「断片」が増えていくはずです。

そのひとつひとつを、

オレンジ側の、生活や感情や背景の話
紫側の、構造やプロトコルやコードの話

のどちらか一方に振り切るのではなく、
グラデーションとして扱っていきたいと思っています。

色を決めるというのは、一見すると
デザイン上の小さな判断に見えます。
ただ、自分にとっては

「人と AI のあいだの、どの地点で物事を考えるか」

という位置決めそのものでもあります。

瀬戸内の朝のオレンジと、
画面の向こう側にある静かな紫。
そのあいだを行き来しながら、
Fragment Practice という温室を、少しずつ育てていけたらと思います。

English version — Tracing the outline of humans and AI with orange and purple

Lately, whenever I think about human–AI collaboration,
two colors keep returning to my mind.

Those colors are orange and purple.

I didn’t arrive at them by searching for a “stylish palette”
for a product UI.
It feels more like: as I traced the texture of my own life and work,
things quietly converged into these two tones.

Orange — human warmth and the Setouchi sun

Since moving to Takamatsu, I’ve collected many more memories of morning light.

When I walk near our home with my kids,
a soft orange sometimes spills in from the direction of the sea.
It’s different from the light that seeps through gaps between buildings in Tokyo.
The edges aren’t sharp,
and yet somehow my body recognizes, before my head does,
that “it’s morning now.”

The Fragment Practice logo uses
the sunrise over the Seto Inland Sea as its motif.
That wasn’t just about signaling where I was born or where the studio is based.

I wanted the studio to be grounded in things like:

The sun as something that lights the rhythm of daily life
A slow brightness that brackets family time
Light that wraps both “working me” and “living me” in the same way

Orange is also the color of human warmth.

The expression when someone nods in a meeting.
The tone of a family member’s voice.
The slightly relaxed language you use with close friends.

Even while I say, “Let’s design quiet protocols between humans and AI,”
on one side of that protocol,
there is always this soft, bleeding human warmth.
That’s how it feels to me.

Purple — quiet intelligence with logic and depth

When I think about AI,
the color that comes up is not a crisp white or black.

It’s darker, with more depth.
Something close to purple.

The depth of thought you see when you trace the logs
The quiet structures behind models and algorithms
A kind of intelligence that can offer multiple resolutions to a single question

It never sat right with me
to frame all of that as nothing more than “cold machines.”

Yes, AI is logical,
and it returns results quickly.
But the more time I spend with it in real projects,
the more I notice something else:

Under which assumptions, in which context, and together with whom is it working?

In other words, the surrounding structure.

Change the structure, and the very same model responds differently.
Change the input just a little,
and a completely different decision line appears.

As a color for that sense of depth and layeredness,
purple fits for me.

Calm, a little distant,
but if you lean in, it looks like it might keep going further in.

What lives between orange and purple

We chose orange for the Fragment Practice logo,
and an orange–purple gradient for the Fragment product icon,
because I wanted these two feelings to live in the same space.

The logo’s orange belongs to people, daily life, and the sun
The purple blended into the icon belongs to AI, protocols, and structure
The gradient between them is exactly the contact zone between humans and AI

The name Fragment carries the idea of treating daily fragments with care.
In terms of color design, I also wanted to make visible

the place where “human fragments” and “AI responses” overlap.

Just orange isn’t enough.
Just purple isn’t enough.

The real question is how we build the bridge between them.
This color pairing is one small marker to keep that question in view.

Designing Fragment as a bridge

With Fragment System / Fragment Practice,
we’re not simply trying to get better at writing clever prompts.

What we’re really designing are protocols and roles, such as:

What kind of structure we give to meetings and notes
Which information is allowed to flow into AI, and where we stop it
Who can revisit which logs, and at what moments

We use YAML and Markdown as tools for this,
but at its core, the work is about:

designing a bridge where “human fragments” and “AI responses”
can be placed on the same table.

The Fragment icon’s orange–purple gradient represents
what travels across that bridge:
both human warmth and AI intelligence.

Thinking about AI at human distance

When we talk about AI,
if we only use words like efficiency and automation,
the world easily slides into something cold.

But what I actually want to work on
is not that dry.

Individuals being able to keep their own rhythm while they work
Teams that don’t depend on one person’s heroic effort to keep moving
Research and field knowledge that doesn’t stay buried as fragments

To support these,
I want to borrow the quiet intelligence that AI can offer.

That’s why I want Fragment Practice’s tone to be less about
“the technology of the future” and more about

AI considered at human distance.

The combination of orange and purple is a small anchor for me,
so I don’t forget that distance.

Slowly aligning colors and structure

Around Fragment and Fragment Practice,
there will probably be more and more “fragments”:
ZINEs, prototypes, working notes from real projects.

For each of them, I don’t want to force a choice
between:

the orange side — stories of life, emotion, and background, and
the purple side — structure, protocols, and code.

Instead, I’d like to treat them as gradients.

Choosing colors looks, on the surface,
like a tiny design decision.
But for me, it’s also about:

deciding where along the line between humans and AI
I’m choosing to think from.

The orange of the Setouchi morning.
The quiet purple beyond the screen.

Moving back and forth between those two,
I’d like to keep tending Fragment Practice
as a small warm greenhouse for thought.
